Seeing a Doctor without being in the Spanish Health System
For Emergencies – Always call 112 or go to Urgencias (A&E)

Emergency care is available to everyone in Spain, regardless of nationality, insurance, or residence status.

A&E (Urgencias) at hospitals

Ambulances

Stabilisation and immediate treatment

You will not be refused treatment in a life-threatening or urgent situation.

You may be asked to pay later or provide insurance details, but care is given first.
For Non-Emergency Issues – You Have Options
Private Clinics / GPs (Médicos Privados)

Many towns and cities have private clinics with English-speaking doctors.

You can walk in or book online — often same-day.

Cost: Usually €30–€100 depending on the service.

Payment: Directly, or through your travel insurance or private health insurance.
Pharmacies (Farmacias)

Pharmacists in Spain are highly trained and can give medical advice for minor issues.

They can often recommend a doctor nearby, or advise whether you need urgent care.

Some medications that require a prescription elsewhere are available over the counter.
Travel Insurance or EHIC/GHIC (for EU/UK visitors)

If you're visiting and have EHIC/GHIC (UK) or an EU health card, you can access public healthcare for necessary treatment.

Bring your card and ID to the public health centre (Centro de Salud)

In Spanish towns, the local health centre is called Centro de Salud.

In Andalucía, you can use the Salud Responde app or website to find local doctors (public and private).
